HEAD COACH/GIRLS COACH MJ BLUM
MJ Blum began rowing in 1982 at UCF under Coach Dennis Kamrad. She has been rowing competitively ever since in regattas such as the Royal Canadian Henley, USRowing Masters Nationals, Southeast Regionals, Head of the Charles, Head of the Hooch, Head of the South, First Coast Head Race, Head of the Indian Creek and numerous local races.
MJ graduated from UCF in 1984 with a BS in Business Administration and studied a year post-graduate in Exercise Physiology before becoming the Head women's coach at Edgewater High School in 1985 until 1990. The team grew from two 8's of girls before she started to five 8's in 2 years. Her girls won the Junior 4, Junior 8 and came in 4th in the Senior 8 at Scholastic Nationals. Edgewater also won the State Championship 4 times during that period.
From 2000-2009 she taught Yoga, Pilates, and Spinning at the RDV Sportsplex and has held certified personal trainer certifications from AFAA and NASM. She started coaching rowing again in 2015 at Winter Park's Middle School Rowing Program.
BOYS COACH Juan Rivero
I have experience coaching all category levels from Freshman to Varsity teams, providing land and water training plans. Also, experience rigging boats and small boat repairs. Obtained Level 1 and 2 Coaching in 2010.
Coaching experience
2009-2011 Coaching Men Master 4+ winning the Hooch (2010-2011), 3rd place at master nationals.
2019 Assisting Boone High School with the Lwt 2x to win states FSRA and 5th in scholastic Nationals.
2020 and 2022 Coach Boone High School.
Rowing experience
1986 pre-selected in the Peruvian National Rowing Team.
US Rowing Master National Lwt 1x 1st place (2009) 2nd Place (2010/2022/2023), 3rd place in Lwt 2x(2009) 2nd place (2010), 3rd place 4+ (2010) and 2nd (2013)
